Fagerdala World Foams of Sweden originally developed the TEMPUR^® material for use in the medical market (hospitals, home care) where it was classified as a “pressure relief” mattress. Pressure relief products are used to aid in the prevention and healing of pressure or decubitus ulcers, commonly known as bed sores. Several factors contribute to the development of a pressure ulcer including lack of mobility, poor circulation and inadequate nutrition. Pressure sores generally develop on or near the pressure points of the body including the shoulder blades, tailbone, hips, heels and even ears.
